Mobile Food Vehicle Permits

Food Vehicles

A mobile food permit is required for all mobile food vehicles to include and not limited to gas, diesel, alternative fuels, electric vehicles, enclosed trailers, and food carts that want to operate within the Lake Cities Area. All mobile food vehicles are required to comply with the adopted International Fire Code (IFC) and amendment requirements that have been adopted by Corinth, Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, and Shady Shores.

Some of the items that will be inspected, the list is not all inclusive:

  1. All mobile food vehicles, cooking or not shall have a minimum of one 2A10BC (5lb) fire extinguisher.
  2. Cooking equipment that produces grease-laden vapors shall be provided with a kitchen exhaust hood.
  3. Cooking equipment shall be protected by automatic fire extinguisher system. It shall be maintained and serviced by a state-licensed fire protection inspector and have a current service tag.
  4. Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided with one 2A10BC (5lb) and one Class K fire extinguisher. All extinguishers must have been inspected and serviced by a state-licensed fire protection inspector and have a current service tag attached to the fire extinguisher(s).
  5. Documentation of an annual gas leak test must be completed by an approved party (e.g. licensed plumber). 
  6. Gas detector must be installed for propane or natural gas, depending on what type of gas is used.

There is a required mobile food permit fee and fire inspection before you can operate within the Lake Cities area. To schedule a fire inspection for a food truck, please contact the Lake Cities Fire Department Administration at (940) 279-4590. Food truck fire inspections can be scheduled between M-Th 8:00am - 4:00pm. Please fill out and print the permit application prior to the appointment. The permit is valid for the calander year and must be renewed yearly. The permit is valid within the Lake Cities Area of Corinth, Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, and Shady Shores.

Operating without a valid mobile food permit from the Lake Cities Fire Department may result in penalties and fines.

All other inspections for mobile food vehicles, such as health inspections and any required city permits, are managed by the pertaining township or city.
