MAY 2021 GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION NOTICE
CORINTH, TX, March 30, 2021- It's time to cast your vote! Corinth City Hall will be hosting early and election day voting for the 2021 City of Corinth General and Special Election. With election day quickly approaching, this guide is designed to help voters successfully navigate the elections process, from registering to vote to explaining the election ballots for the City of Corinth.
What is on the ballot?
General Election
The City of Corinth has a mayor and five City Council members elected at large for two-year terms. Two City Council positions, and Mayor will be placed on the Saturday, May 1, 2021, general election ballot: Mayor, Place 2, and Place 5.
Mayor: Lindsey Rayl | William (Bill) Heidmann (Incumbent)
Place 2: Scott Garber (Incumbent) | Luis J. Herrera-Baker
Place 5: Kelly Pickens (Incumbent)
Special Election: A Special Election will also be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 for voters to consider whether or not to approve a temporary rental car tax that would financially support the creation and operations of a centralized gathering space that will inspire more restaurants and shopping in a new downtown. Proposition A
"Authorizing the City of Corinth, Texas, to provide for the planning, acquisition, establishment, development, construction, renovation and financing of a new central community gathering space and related infrastructure at the location of 3221 Corinth Parkway, Corinth, Texas 76208, the Venue Project, to designate the Venue Project as a sports and community venue project within the City of Corinth, Texas, pursuant to Chapter 334 of the Texas Local Government Code, as amended, and to impose a new short term rental tax on the gross rental receipts of the short term rental of motor vehicles within the City of Corinth, Texas, at a rate of five percent (5%), for the purpose of financing the Venue Project."
When is early voting?
Visit VoteDenton.com for a full list of early voting locations, dates, and times. Denton County residents are eligible to vote at any Denton County voting location during early voting. Early voting at Corinth City Hall, 3300 Corinth Parkway, will be held from April 19-27, 2021.
- Monday, April 19 - Saturday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Monday, April 26 & Tuesday, April 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where can I vote on Election Day?
Election day is Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voting locations on election day are by precinct. Precincts 1020, 2021, 2022, 2023 will be able to vote at Corinth City Hall, 3300 Corinth Parkway on election day. Don't know your precinct number? Voter information, including precinct numbers, and a sample ballot can be found at votedenton.com.
How do I know if I'm registered to vote?
The last day to register to vote for the upcoming General and Special elections is April 1, 2021. Texas does not allow voter registration on the day of the election. Don't know if you're registered? Please check the Texas Secretary of State website. All you'll need to do is enter your full name, birthdate and zip code, and the county you live in.
What form of ID do I need to bring to the polls?
Voters must present one of the acceptable forms of photo ID as required by State law. These include the following:
- Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
- Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
- Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
- Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
- United States Military Identification Card containing the person's photograph
- United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person's photograph
- United States Passport
If you cannot present one of the acceptable forms of identification, you may submit a supporting form of ID and complete a "Reasonable Impediment Declaration." For more information on Voter ID requirements, review the requirements provided by the Texas Department of State.
