Stormwater Fee

The Storm Drainage Utility Fund was established on September 2, 2004 in accordance with Subchapter C of Chapter 402 of the Texas Local Government Code. The Storm Drainage Utility was established as a mechanism to protect the public health and safety from damage caused by surface water overflows, and surface water stagnation and pollution within the City. 

The enabling ordinance also provided for the assessment, levy, and collection of an equitable fee for funding the system. The Storm Drainage Fund is financed and operated in a manner similar to private business enterprises, where costs of providing the services to the public are financed primarily through user fees covering all associated operating costs.
